No Saturday evening Gathering this week! Saturday Night Supper this week is hosted by friends from St Joseph’s Parish

Sunday May 27 at 10:30 AM ……we’ll share communion, special opportunity for anointing (James 5:13-16) I’ll be preaching  …beginning our series on “Pleasing God” AND we’ll honour and share with, and interview our friends, Doug and Emily Morrison who are moving to Huntsville to begin ministry at Muskoka Bible Conference Grounds as Adult Ministry co-ordinators. (These friends have sold the farm and bought a home just down the road from MBC)  Brad Hesselink and team will assist on music this week. (Worship Task List is attached will all of the details, and the many friends who make up the Royal City Ministries

AND we’ll share a Pot Luck Dinner to send off the Morrison’s, right after Church. Everyone is invited to bring main dish to the potluck on Sunday, dessert will be supplied.

(Thanks Denise for catching the variance in the rosters!)  As a Church and Life Centre we are Passionately committed to being “One Message…many Voices”. This document is an example of the many components (and voices) that are a part of this part of God’s family.

Financial Update….thanks for sharing in this part of God’s family at Royal City Church and Life Centre…..we are pleased to share with you that our financial books are being written with Black ink (instead of Red!) We’re still close to the wire (Nothing new) but wanted to express our thanks for your care and participation in this area of our ministry together!

  Pitch and Praise weekend last weekend  YOUTH

What do you get when you cram 1700 high school students together with a couple hundred leaders, killer worship, dynamic teaching, goofy fun, and great friends? 

You get a weekend to remember.

This past weekend a crew from Royal city participated in Pitch and Praise.  The consensus on the weekend was that it was amazing.  Our prayer is that the things heard and experienced would continue to roll around inside heads and hearts. 

This week, youth continues on Friday - 3:30 to 9 PM.  Once again we welcome the worship band from Una Church in Kitchener to help lead during our large group gathering (7:30-8:45).

PITCH AND PRAISE 2012 HAS ARRIVED.

Please be praying as a crew of 17 from Royal City descend upon Braeside Campground outside of Paris this weekend with 2000 of our closest friends.  While we will without a doubt have some amazing adventures, we long for students and leaders to be challenged in their faith journey.  Leonard Sweet, a well known author/speaker will be the key note speaker in the main sessions throughout the weekend.

Attached to this note is the schedule for the weekend so you can check out the fun we are having. Pastor Dennis will be attending a special leader’s seminar with Leonard Sweet on Saturday afternoon…..and there’s room in his car for several more. Len Sweet is the weekend speaker and the author of the most recent book on evangelism called “Nudge”. If you’d like to go, let Pastor Dennis know) Seminar is 2-3:30 plus travel time of an hour or so each way to Braeside Camp in Paris (see attachment)

Financial Update….Thanks for your care and participation in the Life of our Church and Life Centre. We are using ‘black ink’ (nearly) and our mortgage payments have been brought up to day. Our staff have been paid and only one repair bill (about 2000.00) remains outstanding.

PITCH AND PRAISE IS COMING!  May 18th-21st, a group from the Royal City youth community will be participating in a weekend long gathering.  It certainly promises to be an amazing time together.  If you’re Not registered yet, but are still wanting to come?  Forms are due to Jon by this Sunday (May 13th).  It is going to be a great time together.  Talk to Jon if you have questions about your participation.

Big thanks to all who contributed to our 30 Hour Famine efforts.  $1900 was raised in collaboration with the youth from First Baptist.

A financial overview, a fresh look at our ‘Vision and Core values’ documents as revised (a copy is available! ) plus a brief report from each of our pastoral Staff and Children’s ministry leaders. It will be a ½ hour well invested…plan to join in.

Our dear friend, Marion Mains passed away early this morning, into the arms of her Lord and Saviour. A Service to celebrate her life will be shared on Saturday afternoon May 5 here at Royal City at 1:00 pm with visitation at 11:00 am. Pastor Joel Zantingh will be assisting in this celebration. This weekend youth will be going hungry for 30 HOURS in order to raise money for some of World Vision's work around the world.  A big thank you to all who have donated to this initiative already this year.  If you are still interested in lending financial support to help us reach our $3000 goal, please contact the office today or tomorrow!

A great big thanks to DEVIN RYCKMAN for his time serving on the Royal City Youth Leadership Team.  This weekend is his last weekend with us as he leaves to begin a pastoral internship with Orangeville Baptist Church.  We wish Devin all the best as he dives into a new role with a new community.  Thanks for everything, my friend!

Celebration, Caring, Cultivation, and Communication., I’ll have the opportunity to share God’s Word on the topic of Facing our Fears (Part of a three part series). Pastor Kevin will be leading our music and Pastor Jon leading our service time with Drew Shannon on sound and Denise Sanderson on media. YOUTH

Youth gather every Friday at Royal City Church from 3:30-9 PM.  If you are in grades 7-12, come join us!  Every 3rd Friday we pause normal breakouts in order to gather as a large group.  We have our regular band joining us from Una Church (in Kitchener) to lead the music time. 

On Saturday the RC Youth will be partnering with the youth from First Baptist (on Woolwich) to host a bake sale at First Baptist to raise money for the 30 Hour Famine.  Come join us Saturday morning!  Plan to enjoy some tasty treats. 

Next weekend, April 27-28th, some of the youth will be participating in the 30 Hour Famine (also with First Baptist). Come prepared for a great time that will go ALL. NIGHT. LONG. Brunch will be served at 11am. 

Pitch and Praise is coming up (May 18th-21st).  Early bird rate is April 30th!  Forms can be picked up on the youth board. (Transportation assistance is greatly appreciated for this event. Let me know if you can help!)

Colleen Geerlinks will be working for part of the summer at Camp Mishewa with Evergreen Camping Ministries (Congratulations!@) Paul Mahony is now working part-time at Cora’s Restaurant. Suzanna Geerlinks (Refined Painting) was blessed with a new opportunity to bid on a painting contract this week. Sessy Stoneburgh (Emily) has faced some physical challenges this week and appreciates our continuing prayers.  Marion Mains is at home and appreciative of our prayers. Chris and Lorraine Norland operate Priority Pallets and would appreciate your prayers for wisdom to navigate their business operation and cash flow. David Plaxton has a room to rent (Details in the attachment) John Coleman will be moving to Waterloo in May (You’ll be missed John!) The Hat sale of ‘Biltmore’ hats on Monday evening  brought in a total of 1800.00 for support of The Life Centre! J

Financial Update: Thanks for your participation in the life, ministry & finances of this part of God’s family at Royal City. Our leadership team met on Tuesday evening to talk, pray, consider, and to carefully navigate the present short-term financial shortfall, knowing that, as a church, we are consistently on the ‘verge of blessing and brink of dispair’ financially, and that God has promised that He would be enough! J Our offering last weekend brought us almost to ‘the black’!  Evangelical Misssionary Men’s Fellowship have partnered with us financially and will be sharing a financial gift soon. Most Paycheques and bills are now are up to date. J Your prayerful consideration and participation is deeply appreciated! A Church Family Business meeting (a Brief one….host!) ) is scheduled for May 6 right after Church (We try to hold 4 each year to keep all informed and up to date). This will be a sharing of the revised Vision/Mission/Core Value Statements (attached as Royal Church Vision for your consideration in advance), financial overview/update, and a brief report from each of our Pastoral Staff! J

Some Statistics….Sunday Morning Gathering last week 142. Saturday Evening gathering 20. Church offering 5100. Offering for The Centre 1400. Plus hat sale 1800.!  Web site visits: 28 page views per day. 299 unique visitors so far this month. (Total web visits 429…some come back more than once!) Agape café shared 640 (+/-)  meals and facilitated the ministry of 70 (+/-)  volunteers! Many meaningful conversations and opportunities to share the love of Jesus!

Biltmore Hats, a world supplier of quality hats, recently left Guelph for Texas.  Biltmore donated all their surplus hats to Agape and The Life Centre to sell as they wished.

Agape is pleased to present it's first hat sale on April 16th from 5-8.  (It’s a Monday evening)

All hats are being sold by donation though there is a minimum of 5 dollars for regular hats, and 10 dollars for premium.  These hats are of the highest quality and ranging from panama style, to full on cowboys.

Ladies Pot Luck breakfast: Saturday April 21. This month Allison Kach a missionary to the Ukraine is speaking to us at Lois Anderson’s home. Allison comes to us through Word of Life Regional Church.  Start time is 10 am and we should be finishing up in time for lunch.  (33 Trailbrook Lane, Grange and Victoria area)

FINANCIAL UPDATE: We consistently have seen our position as a Church and Life Centre financially as “On the brink of blessing and verge of despair!” God is good, and through many caring gifts we are able to minister each week to hundreds, with valuable connection opportunities. Pastor Kevin will be in Fredericton, New Brunswick this week coaching a wresting match!  I’ll have the opportunity to share our Prayer time together.

RC Youth continues tomorrow 3:30-9 at Royal City Church.  I am looking forward to a great time packed with games, conversations, breakouts, new friendships, and a whole lot of fun.  It is our prayer that through it all young people will catch glimpses of the love of Christ. If you are a young person in grade 7 to 12,  come join us!  If you are reading this and find yourself outside those categories, I invite you to pray for us as we gather. 

Fundraising for the 30 Hour Famine (April 27th-28th) is in full swing.  Part of our youth fundraising initiatives is a bake sale at 1st Baptist Church during the morning of Saturday, April 21st.  Join us that morning for some amazing baked goods.  All proceeds go to  World Vision to help people around the world.  If you can  bake something to donate for the bake sale, please contact Jon.

Pitch and Praise forms (May 18th-21st) will be available during youth on Friday. *Attendance to Pitch is restricted to high school students. We’ll need some help for transportation to and from Pitch this year….If your van or car and perhaps a driver could be used for this….greatly appreciated. Let me know. (Pitch ‘n’ Praise is held at Braeside Camp at 110 East River, Paris, ON N3L 3E1 (1 hour drive…45 kilometres)

Please note: Regularly scheduled youth ministry is CANCELLED, joining in with Good Friday Service & reflection at 10:30.

That said, some of the youth and youth leaders will be leaving Royal City Church at 11:45 (following the Good Friday Service) to go to Zach and Kattina's for lunch.  Following lunch we will continue time together by going on a hike or going to a park. COST: $3/person for food.

Week of Prayer

We have been in our week of prayer with many participating….very much appreciated!

The  prayer room on the lower level, is available with  “prayer stations” that will encourage creative ways of praying. One station is the “worry rope” and after reading Matthew 6:25-27 you tie a not in a rope for each of those things that worries you. Working your way down the rope, you pray over each knot and ask that your worries would be replaced, then the knot is untied and you move to the next knot. Or pray from where ever you are!

Currently there is a MoveIn team consisting of six people, two women and four men, living on Willow Road.  This May, another woman and man will be joining us. The team has been present here since May 1st 2011. Week of Prayer

We are looking for people to sign up for slots of 1hr of prayer, starting this Sunday (March 25^th) and ending Saturday March 31^st.

There will be a prayer room available with  “prayer stations” that will encourage creative ways of praying. After a one week break, YOUTH IS BACK!  Friday, 3:30-9pm, youth connected with Royal City will be gathering at the Church for hang time, talk time, food time, laughs and loads of fun.  Throughout it all, it is our hope and prayer that you will catch glimpses of the love of Christ, that you would experience TRUTH, and that you would find it compelling. 

Breakouts are continuing:

Cooking, Art, Baking, Bible Study, Music Jamming, Fitness and there are rumours of another guitar lesson group (if there is enough interest).
